The Kamberg Valley is a beautiful part of South Africa and lies in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains just past the Nottingham Road .

Kamberg is a secnicl area that is very serene with vast open spaces. There are a host of opportunities to explore the Kamberg and surrounding area.

The Kamberg San Rock Art Trail has an Interpretive Centre that helps visitors understand and interpret the more than 40 000 San Bushman art works found in the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. The guided tour is also very popular and well worth taking.

The Kamberg Nature Reserve is situated in the Natal Drakensberg Park on the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains. The park has a number of buck including the mighty Eland and some smaller buck like the Oribi, Duiker and Reedbuck. The area has a number of trout fishing opportunities in the streams and dams. The Kamberg Nature Reserve is well known for its hiking and fishing as well as the Trout Hatchery. The hatchery is well worth a visit where one can learn how trout and raised.

The Kamberg is part of the famous Midlands Meander. So don't wait for the Kamberg Trout Festival to come around to visit us, visit us all year round.!

Kamberg is host to the following events:

a) Kamberg Trout Festival, organised by the Kamberg Farmers,
b) Kamberg Outdoor Challenge
c) Kamberg Country Day
e) Glengerry Mountain Bike Classic

The Kamberg is in close proximity to other adventure and sporting activities, such as the Karkloof Canopy Tours (longest Canopy Tour in South Africa), Over the Top Adventures (abseil off the Howick Falls 107 m), Annual Comrades Marathon, Midmar Mile, Giants Castle Classic to mention a few. Because Kamberg is so centrally situated it offers visitors the opportunity to base themselves in the Kamberg and travel to the attractions and activities in the Midlands and the Drakensberg.

Margaret Herbst of Mountain Shadows has 2 x 8 bed villa's and 1 x 4 bed villa - also 2 rustic huts and 2 fully equipped caravans on site - view their website at www.mountainshadows-sa.com. Stagstones Cottage is a quaint, rustic but comfortable thatched cottage with beautiful views of the Drakensberg. It has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting room(with fire place) / dining room and fully equipped kitchen. There is also a separate rondavel with 2 beds and a shower. Heronmoor Retreat is a 300 ha farm at the top of the Kamberg Valley. The Farmhouse sleeps 10 people ( 5 bedrooms, a double and 4 twins, and 2 and half bathrooms), Harleigh Cottage has two bedrooms and sleeps 4 (1 Double and 2 singles). Heronmoor cottage sleeps a maximum of 3 people. All cottages have fireplaces or wood burning stoves and spectacular views of the Giant and the escarpment. Brakenburn has a six sleeper fully equipped self catering cottage at a rate of R180,00 per person and we also have a two sleeper self catering cottage available. 2. Old Classroom luxury garden room en-suite = one person
3. Old Stable luxury garden room en-suite = one person
4. White room en-suite in main lodge = one person
5. Two rooms available in the cottage = two persons
If entrants wish to bring partners or even family, there is another en-suite room available.
